It took a debilitating illness to inspire the birth of the
E-Quality of Life Foundation.

Susan Arena is an Interior Designer and Professional Member of A.S.I.D. FSC.

She suffered a breakdown of her auto immune system in October 2005. Until then, getting around was a breeze.  At first she was in a wheelchair, now Susan uses a motorized cart to get around town while shopping for her clients. She began to realize how difficult it is for those in wheelchairs, or for those who use motorized scooters or even crutches, to do one of the most mundane of tasks - opening a door!

After reviewing ADA Codes, Susan realized that doors in the US are not required by law, to open automatically. ADA accessibility stops at the door! She further learned of the simple solution to a very big problem, and its relatively low cost!

E - Quality of Life Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization based in Palm Beach County. Its mission is to improve the quality of life for the physically challenged population. In Palm Beach County alone, 18% of the population is physically challenged and face entry barriers on a daily basis. The Foundation addresses accessibility obstacles and provides direct solutions through the installation and maintenance of power automated door openers. The Foundation will create public awareness via educational tools and media in regard to this very needed and overlooked issue!
